Looks like actual volume availbiliuty of AMD's upcoming Radeon 6000 series prodyct will be available later then the launch date. DigiTimes was told that mass shipments of AMD's new graphics cards are slated for November, and the site also reports that NVIDIA will cut the price of its GeForce GTX 460 768MB and introduce the entry-level GeForce GT 430 (GF108).

Nvidia is set to launch its new entry-level GeForce GT 430 (GF 108), which should have a large shipment share, around October 19 with its mainstream product, the GeForce GTX 460 768MB to see its price drop and attack AMD's ATI Radeon HD 5000-series.

AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series ''Barts'' Specs Sheet Surfaces

The specs sheet of AMD's next-generation Radeon HD 6700 series GPUs, based on a new, radically redesigned core, codenamed "Barts". The XT variant denotes Radeon HD 6770, and Pro denotes HD 6750. AMD claims that the HD 6700 series will pack "Twice the Horsepower", over previous generation HD 5700 series. Compared to the "Juniper" die that went into making the Radeon HD 5700 series, Barts features twice the memory bandwidth thanks to its 256-bit wide high-speed memory interface, key components such as the SIMD arrays split into two blocks (like on Cypress), and we're now getting to learn that it uses a more efficient 4-D stream processor design. There are 1280 stream processors available to the HD 6770 (Barts XT), and 1120 stream processors to the HD 6750 (Barts Pro). Both SKUs use the full 256-bit memory bus width.

AMD Readies Faster Phenom II X6 Models, New Fast Quad-Core Chip

ImagesAfter AMD's recent mass-release of Athlon II and Phenom II series processors that included the Phenom II X6 1070T Black Edition priced at around $250, AMD is working on a new flagship processor that's even faster than the Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition (the current flagship), given the model number Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition (surprise!), and as always, it's yet another speed-bump. This chip is based on the 45 nm Thuban die, and is clocked a whole 100 MHz faster, at 3.30 GHz, with a Turbo Core frequency of 3.70 GHz. Surprisingly, it retains its TDP rating of 125W. As with every other chip based on this die, it features six cores with 128 KB L1, 512 KB L2 dedicated caches, and 6 MB L3 shared cache, it comes in the AM3 package and is backwards compatible with AM2+, supporting dual-channel DDR3-1333 and DDR2-1066 memory standards.

AMD Brings Out New Athlon II CPUs

After presenting six new central processing units not so long ago, Advanced Micro Devices appears to have once again supplied the market with new CPUs, this time aimed at the low-power market, the chips being four new Athlon II units.

Eager to keep expanding its product lineup to all segments of the market, Advanced Micro Devices has been diligently working on not just CPUs and GPUs, but also APUs.

This once, however, AMD is causing ripples on the market not through some new announcement on the Fusion architecture, but by unleashing four new low-power Athlon II chips, according to reports.

Valve and AMD Team Up for auto driver updates

ImagesAMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced its collaboration with Valve to deliver ATI Catalyst™ graphics driver updates via its Steam platform, a leading platform for PC games and digital entertainment. Steam users can now detect and install the latest ATI Catalyst driver for their ATI Radeon™ graphics card directly from within Steam. Valve’s most recent Steam Hardware Survey shows that fully 87 percent of DirectX® 11 gamers are enjoying ATI Radeon or ATI Mobility Radeon™ hardware.

“Steam represents an evolution for PC and online gaming, and the availability of ATI Catalyst graphics driver updates directly on the Steam platform can help further enhance the PC gaming experience for users of ATI Radeon products,” said Ben Bar-Haim, corporate vice president of software for AMD. “AMD Gaming Evolved and Valve share the belief that ‘Gamers Come First’ – we now have the opportunity to work together to help ensure the best possible experience for PC gamers.”

AMD unveils Zacate APU

ImagesWhile Intel is grabbing the headlines with its Sandy Bridge line at IDF, AMD is continuing its tradition of subverting the event with a little gathering of its own in a nearby hotel - and it's taken the opportunity to unveil Zacate, its first Accelerated Processor Unit.

Part of the company's Fusion range, Zacate combines ATI graphics with an AMD processor in a single chip - and at a claimed power draw of between 9 and 18 watts under load, it's a chip which AMD is going to be aiming at the ultra-slim and portable markets.

Interestingly, the company isn't looking to take on Intel's Atom directly: rather, Maximum PC claims that Zacate is designed to compete with Intel's Core i5 and provide a low-power solution for gamers on the go. While that might seem too good to be true, attendees at the launch were treated to MMORPG City of Heroes: Going Rogue running on a Zacate-based system at perfectly playable framerates.

AMD Launches $3,500 ATI FirePro V9800 Workstation Card

AMD has launched a new workstation graphics card dubbed as the ATI FirePro V9800 which is designed for professionals who require extreme performance and sports 1,600 stream processors running at 850MHz and 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM effectively clocked at 4,800Mhz.

The ATI FirePro V9800 based on the same Cyprus GPU used in the V8800 released earlier this year, except the V9800 can pump out 2.72 terraflops instead of 2.64 whilst consuming less power.
